Goodbye – 9th Anniversary Poem

Hello, my amazing WordPress family.

I hope it’s not too late to wish you all a happy new year. I’ve missed you all.

Yay! It’s my 9th blogversary on WordPress and I must say it has been an enriching and exceptional experience sharing my thoughts and life experiences with you all.

To celebrate this feat, I’ll share a piece I wrote this morning with you all. It’s a poem of hope and healing that sprung up in my soul after I had gone through three weeks of emotional pain.

Goodbye yesterday, goodbye yesteryear.
Goodbye to failure, frustration and fear.
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new season.
I’ve climbed God’s hills, it’s a new horizon.

Goodbye guilt, goodbye gloom.
Goodbye darkness, death and doom.
Hello hope and healing, I am free again.
Christ has saved me from the pit of pain.

Goodbye tension, goodbye trauma.
Goodbye deep depression and drama.
Hello, faith and freedom – my new companions.
I am no longer a slave to negative opinions.

Goodbye affliction, goodbye addictions.
Goodbye reproach, regret and restrictions.
Hello, redemption, I have the victory.
I am saved from every mess and misery.

Goodbye hardship, goodbye hostility.
Goodbye suffering, sorrow and scarcity.
Hello harvest, there’s no more hindrance.
I am swimming in sweetness and superabundance.

Goodbye dismay, goodbye disappointment.
Goodbye rage, wrath and resentment.
Hello, favour, I’m loved and limitless.
I am graced with glory and greatness.

Goodbye, hurts, goodbye haunting shadows.
Goodbye weariness and worry windows.
Jesus’ joy and peace now flow in my soul.
Christ has transformed and made me whole.

Goodbye to the broke and broken me.
Goodbye to the voiceless version of me.
Hello, joy, the blessings are abounding.
I’m a champion, my victory is resounding.

Why Me? — A Poem

Every human being will at one point or the other experience life’s uncertainties, unfulfilled promises, unpleasant situations, unfair treatments and undeserved pains.

The world is wired to give us roses with thorns, sunshine and rain, and a fair share of losses and gains. We must learn to find the blessings and lessons in every season of life.

We should not be quick to accuse God when bad things happen and then forget to acknowledge Him when we experience beautiful things. I hope this poem speaks to your soul.

If you have to ask “Why me?”
When it seems God can’t hear your plea,
When secret storms won’t let you be,
And haunting shadows are all you see.

When your jar of joy runs dry
And no one seems to hear your cry.
When funds are low and debts are high,
And you can only look down and sigh.

When the skies pour fiery raindrops,
And your field is full of dying crops.
When everything you hold dear flops
And your eyes brew bitter teardrops.

When you lay hopeless on a cold bed,
And it’s hard to see what lies ahead.
When you’ve forgotten what God said,
And needless noises fill your head.

When you seem not to have a lifeline,
And your noble dreams do not align.
When the twilight stars refuse to shine
And you are left without a positive sign…

Then, when God finally comes through,
When His countenance shines on you,
And He prepares a table before you,
will you be bold to ask “Why me” too?

Your pain has a purpose, my friend,
even if it’s hard for you to comprehend.
Trust the process, never condescend,
God is merciful and faithful to the end.

When Strange Storms Rage

On the 9th of February 2022, I woke up at about 4:30 am and had a strong push in my heart to pray for my mother who was battling gastric cancer. I was still in my prayer mood when I got a call from my elder sister that my mom was in a critical condition and had been placed on life support.

I sent messages to some of my friends to pray for my mom while I set out to go see her at the hospital.
By the time I got to the hospital, she had passed on. I wept bitterly looking at my mom’s lifeless body on the hospital bed. I refused to be consoled until I sensed a divine atmosphere around me and I saw my mom smiling in heaven. I quickly wiped away my tears knowing that she is in a place of eternal bliss where there is no pain or sickness.

I remembered that I still saw her the weekend before her death, I never imagined that I won’t speak to her again. God knows best.

We had to bury her three days after her death. After the funeral, I had to resume back to work. The pressure became too much on me and I started having some strange symptoms. I was scared for my life because of the backlog of health issues I was dealing with before then.

I was recommended to go for two major medical procedures barely three weeks after my mom’s burial.

In all of this, I was dealing with a toxic work environment. It was as if all hell was let loose. I couldn’t pray as I used to. I became emotionally numb. I had to resort to deep Bible study and occasional worship.

It’s tough to sustain a joyful atmosphere amid strange storms and painful experiences but I constantly had to remind myself that joy is my perpetual atmosphere and I can’t lose it even if I’m going through hell and high waters.

I’m still trusting God for victory over all the situations that are threatening my joy but through it all, I rejoice.

While I was meditating on God’s word this morning, I was inspired to write this short piece.

Joy is the seal of God’s presence.
It’s the atmosphere of heaven.
Heaven is where God lives.
So, because God lives within me.
I am heaven’s expression on earth.
Even if I am going through hell,
God still lives in and with me.
I will never forget who I am.
I will never lose my joy.
I am heaven’s expression on earth.
I perpetually host God’s presence.
Joy is my eternal atmosphere.

I hope to fully get back on my feet emotionally. But in the meantime, I will keep basking in the joy of God’s presence.

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Habakkuk 3:17 KJV

Have a great one, friends.

Love is Calling Your Name – A Poem

You are a legendary love letter
written with the pen of paradise.
You are an epic epistle
written by God to mankind,
every line carries His gift of grace
birthing endless ecstasy everywhere.
Every word offers a warm embrace,
brewing hope and healing for all.
You may be decked with scars
but that does not define you,
you are God’s priceless work of art
– a perfect blend of divinity and humanity,
You may be crowned with thistle
but that should not deter you,
you are remarkable royalty
bred from the bloodline of self-healers,
rise gallantly from the ashes negativity,
shake off the shackles of neglect.
You won’t live like this forever
and, certainly, you won’t die like this.
If you sometimes feel lonely,
it is not because you are deserted,
it is because you are alive.
Rise to hope and healing,
banish every negative feeling.
Love is calling your name,
step out and show up,
answer with grit and grace,
you are worthy of epic love,
this is your moment,
today is yours to shine,
You are loved eternally.

Happy Valentine’s Day lovely friends. What’s your plan for Val? 🥰

The Bleeding Blessing

I woke up this morning feeling worthless and useless due to the myriad of setbacks I suffered last year and the few disappointments I have faced this year. I felt like I have achieved nothing with my life so far – a voice in my head kept reminding me of the failures of my past and the inadequacies I am dealing with presently.

I reluctantly got up from the bed, prayed, and went to my church for Sunday Service. The first lady I greeted at the church told me that she has been using my daily affirmation book Whispers of Winners. She thanked me for gifting the book to everyone as a New Year gift.

Her compliment jacked me back to the reality that there is more for my life. During the church service, I started hearing a beautiful voice speaking in my head and I began to write what He was saying to me.

If you are dealing with depression, struggling with suicidal thoughts, or feelings of inadequacy, these words are for you too. Here are some of the things that voice said to me:

You are not worthless
You are not useless,
There is more for your life.
despite all your past mistakes,
you are still a miracle.
You may be bleeding now,
yet, you are still a blessing.
You are not cheap,
don’t let anyone discount you.
You are priceless,
don’t let anyone put a price tag on you.
You are an epic story
that no mortal tongue can tell.
You are matchless work of art
that no merchant can sell.

You are valuable, you are adorable.
The fact that you are broken
does not nullify what God has spoken.
Your mess is loaded with
beautiful and meaningful messages.
Your messy pieces are raw materials
for God’s masterpieces.
There is a great purpose
for your toughest pain.
You may look like a worm now
but there is a wonder inside you.
Keep evolving,  keep emerging.
Your current location
is not your final destination,
keep growing, keep going forward.

Don’t give up now,
your best days are ahead of you.
God is not done with you yet.
Silence the echoes of defeat
and despair in your head.
You are a champion.
Don’t be limited by your past losses.
Don’t let the opinion of men define you.
Find your value and validation in the One
who knew you before you were born.
God didn’t create a loser,
you are a winner.

21 Lessons of 2021

2021 is a year I would consider a defining year for me. I started the year as a homeless and broken man striving to find hope, help, and healing. I went through diverse floods and flames.

At a particular point, I was visiting the hospital frequently till medical bills drained me financially, but through it all, God remained faithful. I lost some vital relationships but I found God in my darkest season, and He introduced me to my true self.

The crushing and pressing of 2021 made me a new wine. I rose from the ashes as pure gold. All thanks to God and the friends who were able to hear the echoes of my silence.

Here are some of the lessons I learned the hard way…

1. Rock bottom is a place of deep discovery and real recovery.

2. Sometimes you feel lost and lonely because God wants you to see Him as your one and only.

3. Be happy to miss those who make your life miserable. Be glad that they showed you that you deserve better.

4. Isolation is one of the greatest preparation for divine manifestation. A seed is buried before it blooms.

5. Sometimes, God allows enemies to surround you because He wants to prepare a table before you in their presence. Don’t focus on the troubles of life, look forward to the ‘table of triumph’.

6. God will sometimes set your comfort zone ablaze so you can move to a growth zone.

7. There is a time to give up, and there is a time to get up and grow up. Giving up is good when it’s done at the right time. We enjoy new beginnings when we enforce necessary endings.

8. Quit! Quit paying attention to the things draining your peace and joy.

9. Two people you must avoid: the people you cannot help and those that can’t help you become a better person. (This has nothing to do with material gains)

10. God can restore wasted years and wipe away fiery tears.

11. Don’t rush into relationships, don’t force friendships. Build yourself to attract valuable and vibrant relationships.

12. Be valuable enough to stand alone. Be responsible enough to attract support.

14. Every season comes with lessons and blessings. Gratitude gives you access to blessings while positive attitude helps you maximize the lessons in every season.

15. Your darkest season may be preparing for your brightest sparkle.

17. You can’t pray away certain pains when you a pregnant with purpose. Prayer will only give you the peace and patience to grow through the painful process.

18. A prosperous life starts with a positive and productive mind.

19. No one owes you anything. You owe yourself everything. Keep growing till you become a magnet of resourceful relationships.

20. You are made to manifest but there are times you need to be hidden in the place of preparation.

21. Your words shape your world. Don’t declare defeat when the fight is still on.
Win with words.

Hidden Tears of Hurting Years

God of my untold stories,
Thank you for bringing me this far.
God of my unseen victories,
Thank you for healing every scar.

God of my waiting years,
Thank you for your matchless grace.
God of my hidden tears,
Thank you for your warm embrace.

God of my hard-learned lessons,
Thank you for your will and wisdom.
God of my sweetest seasons,
Thank you for this faith and freedom.

For the blessings eyes cannot see,
I am forever grateful.
For the precious blood that set me free,
I am more than thankful.

A few months ago, I went through a severe storm that almost made me drown in depression again.

What kept me afloat was the last strand of my faith in God. I have lost many friends in the process, I felt completely lost and lonely. I became weak and weary. I kept my eyes on mountain tops even in the darkest rock bottom.

Life became a dark tale of pain and pressure but through it all, I held onto God, He kept me safe and made me sail through without losing my joy. In the midst of it all, His love became more real to me, His light guided me, and His joy was my strength. I am still healing. I am still believing in God for total restoration. My faith still stands in the deep.

In all of this, I have learned to be thankful even when I’m going through hell and high water. God knows, God sees, God hears. Thank you for reading.

Be encouraged my friends. Praise Him even in your pains.

The Skyscraper of Success – A Poem

Behind every grand glory,
I see a million simple stories…
A tale of trials and tears
gathered through the years.
So, before you covet the rainbow,
be sure you can snug the storm.

Note that this mobile monument
was not built with stones and cement.
This skyscraper of success
was built with bricks of blunders;
every masterpiece you see in this
castle was made with messy pieces.

I went through hell and high waters
before I got to this garden that glitters.
I stand tall among stars because
I refuse to squat with my scars.
I didn’t become a champion by chance,
I chose to get cheered on by challenges.

This sweet smile on my face is nothing
but a signature of strength and hope.
I sometimes weep secretly
seeking the courage to cope.
So, before you covet this glory,
be willing to live this story.

Glance through the sour blunders
that birthed this sweet wonder.
From pain to pain, I keep moving.
From fault to fault, I keep improving.
I got this robust reward partly
because I kept failing forward.
