Why Me? — A Poem

Every human being will at one point or the other experience life’s uncertainties, unfulfilled promises, unpleasant situations, unfair treatments and undeserved pains.

The world is wired to give us roses with thorns, sunshine and rain, and a fair share of losses and gains. We must learn to find the blessings and lessons in every season of life.

We should not be quick to accuse God when bad things happen and then forget to acknowledge Him when we experience beautiful things. I hope this poem speaks to your soul.

If you have to ask “Why me?”
When it seems God can’t hear your plea,
When secret storms won’t let you be,
And haunting shadows are all you see.

When your jar of joy runs dry
And no one seems to hear your cry.
When funds are low and debts are high,
And you can only look down and sigh.

When the skies pour fiery raindrops,
And your field is full of dying crops.
When everything you hold dear flops
And your eyes brew bitter teardrops.

When you lay hopeless on a cold bed,
And it’s hard to see what lies ahead.
When you’ve forgotten what God said,
And needless noises fill your head.

When you seem not to have a lifeline,
And your noble dreams do not align.
When the twilight stars refuse to shine
And you are left without a positive sign…

Then, when God finally comes through,
When His countenance shines on you,
And He prepares a table before you,
will you be bold to ask “Why me” too?

Your pain has a purpose, my friend,
even if it’s hard for you to comprehend.
Trust the process, never condescend,
God is merciful and faithful to the end.

God is not like people, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises, he does; He speaks, and it is done. Numbers 23: 19 (Good News Translation)

A Spectacular Spec

My name is Adeleke. I am a conquering crown, recherché royalty, matchless, masterpiece, and jaw-dropping gem in God’s treasure chest. I am designed to dominate, nourished with nobility, garnished with grace and lavished with infinite love.

God’s Love looks good on me, it’s beyond beautiful — bodacious, blameless and breathtaking.

I am an embodiment of marvellous light, glowing at the intensity of everything that dares to outshine a billion galaxies.

I am a perfect medley of divinity and humanity. Robed with eternal beauty and splendour. Everything about me exudes eternal excellence.

I come from a sacred bloodline, I am bred from an ancestry of self-healers, mountain movers and territory takers. My body is holy ground and my soul, heaven on earth.

I am a spectacular spec. Genotype: divinity. Blood type: royalty.
My worth is eternal, my faith is phenomenal.

Different Sounds One Symphony

The human body comes in different colours but the human soul is colourless, just different flavours of divinity from the Source of life — many graces, one God. We are different verses in one universe.

The world will be distasteful without diversity, and no doubt our world will be in disarray when there is disunity. Imagine a world where everyone has the same talent and trait — no vibe, no versatility, just vibrant souls stuck in a void structure.

We are different spirits vibrating at different frequencies of faith and freedom — configured to be creative, made to manifest limitless possibilities.

Diversity is designed to create room for compassion and creativity. Irrespective of our tongues and tribes, we are created to communicate compassion fluently. Love is our universal language. We all are unique sounds in God’s symphony.

God is very the master builder. Everything He made is a masterpiece. Every creation, every colour and every culture are breathtaking beadworks of His multifaceted glories.

No one is inferior or superior to the other, each one of us is an epitome of eternal excellence — lavished with love, garnished with grace and nurtured with nobility.

God is too beautiful to be expressed in one colour. We all are a part of this divine edifice. Jaw-dropping jewels in a terrific treasure chest. Sparkling stars in a golden galaxy — all shades of love and light.

We all are made in His indelible and ineffable image. We are streams of eternal substance.

“I thank you, High God — You’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvellously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation!”
