I have suffered a lot of heartbreaks, in fact, I often tell my friends that my heart has been battered, broken and burnt; the only thing I have left is ‘art’ or better still ‘conscience’.
In my journey of life and love, I have come to realise that love is overrated, and peace of mind is so underrated. Love is a sweet sacrifice but it’s a bad bargain to offer your peace of mind on the altar of affection. Love is pure and perfect but relationships are a potpourri of bittersweet experiences.
In relationships, what you give is not always what you get. Dishonesty is a big deal-breaker for me but it seems it’s the new normal. A lot of folks wants privacy but in actual sense what they want is permission to sin with a touch of secrecy. Hence, I decided to stick to love and give up on emotional relationships.
However, I try to date random ladies in my head. Hence, I write love letters to the lover in my head at different times, since it seems there is no heart for any lover to occupy.
Below are some of the pieces letters I have written. Call them ‘far better love letters’. Feel free to call them ‘pick up lines’.
