I Will Come Out as Pure Gold

Through the valley of the shadow of death,
through the hills that stole my breath;
God has been my salvation and strength…
I will surely come out as pure gold.

I often sit under the fountain of fears
and sometimes feast from the trees of tears;
God will restore all my wasted years…
I will surely come out as pure gold.

The stormy blast once sank my soul,
the grave of guilt almost caged my goal;
God’s arms of love keep me pure and whole…
I will surely come out as pure gold.

When black and white turn to gray,
when the golden scepter turns to clay;
God will turn the darkest night to day…
I will surely come out as pure gold.

When beauty gets too blurry to behold,
and it seem I am fast getting old…
When bitter battles betide, I stay bold.
I will surely come out as pure gold.
