Hugs and Handshakes

In a world of pressure and pain,
We need doses of healing and hope.
In a world of struggles and strain,
We need doses of courage to cope.

In a world of flame, fury and flood,
We need doses of rest and restoration.
In a world of bullets, bars and blood,
We need doses of and affection.

In a world of fears and frustration,
We need doses of hug and handshakes.
In a world of death and destruction,
We need doses affection and all it takes.

It is believed that hugs may not only have healing powers, but actually help protect against stress and negative emotions caused by interpersonal conflict.

When people continually commit to interpersonal touch such as hugs and handshakes, it oftentimes improve their sense of wellbeing and leads to healthy relationships.

Today, lend a hand of healing and hope to someone in distress. Save a soul, someone needs your touch to survive and thrive.

If you can’t use your hands, use your head, if you can’t use your head, use your heart, we all have what it takes to make the world a better place. Cognition, compassion and character count!

    1. Sending you some virtual hugs. ๐Ÿค— ๐Ÿค— ๐Ÿค— . Beyond feeling inspired, I hope you get someone to hug you where you are ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก .

Thank you so much, God bless you.

  1. I suppose since we’re not able to hug in person these days (except for immediate family), virtual hugs are all the more important. No research probably supports this, but I’m thinking it takes more than one virtual hug to equal a physical hug! Expressions of kindness and compassion are needed these days more than ever.

    1. One of the ways we can send virtual hugs is through words of affirmation and inspiration.
I sometimes pray for my friends and share hope-boosting words to hug them too. Physical distance does not always reduce emotional connection.
I am not sure if there is a study on this yet.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Nancy.

They get you the feeling of trust, care and affection.
Words shared could make you literally feeling being hugged or consoled to comfort.

  3. Recently I had a dream that I guess sums up what a lot of us are feeling these days.
In a place where grown-ups were running around in masks, I saw a little boy standing in a corner with a quivering lip and tears in his big, brown eyes. I got down on one knee and said “Hey, what’s wrong, buddy?”
As the tears spilled over, he blurted out, “I haven’t had a HUG today!!!” (I hugged him until we BOTH felt better.)
