I’m Happy To Miss You (Poetry)

Meeting you was a date with fate
I thought I have found a soulmate.
Your friendship was my cocoon
when loneliness broke my boon.

I will never forget our first hangout,
the aura of your love cleared my doubt.
Gentle breeze caressed us at twilight
till we were woken by sunlight…

Your smiles sparkled like the stars,
I soon forgot all my scary scars.
Your heartbeat was loud and clear,
lyrics of love crept into my left ear.

I stopped searching for love,
for in you, I found a darling dove.
I had plans to put a ring on it
until a war broke out in my spirit.

I was ready to forever live with you,
my love for you was pure and true.
But yours were full of dark clouds,
and your lies were loud and proud.

Though you broke my heart
and our souls had to grow apart,
Since I was not sad when I met you;
I will be very happy to miss you!

  5. Very raw emotions, and vulnerability. Great post!

    Red flags are hard to detect once you’re already in, but nevertheless when words don’t match behaviors then there’s a problem.

    I love this line “Since I was not sad when I met you;
    I will be very happy to miss you!”

    Hard to do so yet, very possible with the power of forgiveness. Thanks Adeleke, for sharing.

      You are right about how hard it may be to detect red flags when you are already in but for those who have been cheated, used and abused for a long time, they are not easily swayed by emotions.

      I don’t think that anyone that has been deceived, betrayed and backstabbed many times can be blindfolded by emotions.
