Declaration of Victory Day 24

A Letter To My Crush

Dear crush, it seems we have been avoiding deep conversations since we started catching feelings for each other. There are a lot of things I wished I could say to you directly but I am afraid that you will cut off this beautiful bond between us.

So, I am breaking this silence with my keypad and notepad, attempting to tell you that I love you, and my love for you is pure and perfect – a slice of paradise.

However, there are things I may do or say that will hurt you temporarily, and there are things I may refuse to do or say that will make you doubt my love for you.

I am an imperfect man on a quest for perfection and full resurrection, yes resurrection.

My heart was broken, burned and buried by some of the ‘friends’ that occupied it in the past

I have lost touch with the reality of romance because the fragrance of my heart was polluted with the flame of falsehood, betrayal and deception.

I have loved the wrong people the right way and loved the right people the wrong way because my emotions were bereft of purity and godly purposes.

My love was blind because it lacked the Light of God. My love was dead because it lacked the life of Christ. I was looking for love in the wrong places – filling the God-shaped hole in my heart with the pleasures of this world.

All my previous displays of affection were born out of a distasteful desire – to fulfil the lust of the flesh. Although I tried to do what was right, but I was on the wrong side of morality and far from divinity.

At a point in time, depression began to set in, I drowned deeply in the ocean of frustration. While jumping from one random relationship to another, I found myself in the valley of the shadow of death, but the love of God was reckless, excess and limitess enough to find me.

God came running after me to rescue me. He lighted up every shadow, and whispered to me, “Dear son, death is swallowed up in victory”.
He transported me from the valley of the shadow of death to the mountain of the rainbow of life.

God added flavour and colour to my life, and now I can boldly say that I am salt and light to my world. I was rescued for such a time as this and ransomed for a treasure like you.

Dear crush, I am growing and healing fast, and I am trying not to go back to the pit God pulled me from and the sins He saved me from.

So, I may not say all the things you want me to say or do all you want me to do but I can guarantee you that if you allow God’s love to find expression in your heart and our friendship, we will do life together and love each other as Christ loved the church…

In the meantime, let’s flow in faith, fun and friendship. I hope this is not as complicated as you thought it would be.

Half-full or Half-empty

2020 started with high hopes and beautiful dreams, we all couldn’t wait to achieve our Vision2020.

Then Covid came, and it crushed the beautiful plans and projections of many folks. Widespread protest shootings and lootings disrupted many dreams; not forgetting the total lockdown and how it locked down many businesses.

This year has been different strokes for different folks but, no matter what life has thrown at you, there is a reason to be grateful for life.

Stop swimming in sorrow when happiness is free; pay attention to the blessings within you, the beauty around you and the brighter days ahead of you.

Give thanks for the good days, when smiles and sweetness flood your soul.
When great testimonies and songs of praises fill your mouth.

Give thanks for the hard days, when troubles and trials tear your heart apart. When it’s hard to wake up and you feel like giving up the fight.

Give thanks for friends and family, for fathers, mothers, sons and daughters,  everyone that reminds you that love is all that matters.

Give thanks for foes and frienemies, those who hate and hurt you for known and unknown reasons; because the stones they throw at you are your stepping stones to greater heights.

Give thanks for daily benefits, for weekly bonuses and monthly incomes. Be grateful for the businesses and career that put food on your table.

Give thanks for the heartbreaking emails and the painful loses. Be grateful for the pay cut and unpaid debts; knowing that every closed door is a redirection to bigger and better possibilities.

Give thanks for the raindrops falling from the skies, and for the teardrops falling from your eyes. Knowing that your secret storms and the fiery furnace of life are blessings in disguise.

Give thanks for every weakness and brokenness that makes you run to God for help, and for every fear and frustration that makes you fall on your knees to pray.

Give thanks, for God, is your strength and your salvation, the One who gives you rest and restoration, Be grateful for His redemption and revelation, and how He delivered your soul from destruction.

Give thanks, that despite the pandemic and the pain ravaging our world, God has been your sanitizer. His blood is the greatest vaccine that killed every virus on the cross of Calvary.

Give thanks for everything that came against you to steal your joy and peace, for they remind you that God is the prince of peace.

Give thanks for the valley of the shadow of death, and for the tunnels that remind you that God is with you, as a mighty and merciful One who will never leave nor forsake you.

Give thanks, for all things bright and beautiful, and for everything that made you sad and sorrowful, knowing fully well,  that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord, who are called according to His purpose.

Give thanks, because you still have greater victories to win, bigger territories to take, better stories to write and more mountains to conquer. I know the journey is tough and you are thirsty, but whether your cup is half-full or half-empty, be grateful that you cup that’s not empty. Drink what you have and be joyful.

Give thanks to the Lord, always, and again I say, give thanks.
Thank you.

Hey friends, I believe that you’ve been inspired to be grateful. Share three things you are grateful for in the comment section. Thank you for reading.

Born to Bloom

They buried us in unmarked graves,
We turned the graves into gardens.
We are not dead slaves
but sacred seeds buried to bloom.

We were thrown into the fire
but we came out with sparkles.
We are not a complete wreckage
but nascent gems with crinkles.

We were pressed and crushed,
we bled and became exotic wine.
Painful processes we endure
knowing that we were born to bloom.

A lot of things seem to have drained life out of many people this year: pandemic, protests, politics, police brutality, loses, looting, lockdown, mental health challenges, fear of failure, fear of success and other strange storms that featured in this movie called 2020.

I have a feeling that a lot of people have given up on the year already. However, there is another group of people who believe that 2020 is their year of boom, bloom, bliss and boon. My friends, no matter how the year has been, I want you to know that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s an opportunity to succeed. War is not the absence of peace but an avenue to attain victory.

Don’t allow fear and frustration deny you of the beauty and blessings within and around you. Dare to sing, smile and celebrate your small wins…

Relax, reflect, rejoice & raise your voice in appreciation, being alive is a big win. Happy new month!

A Better Time

“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.”
Harvey Mackay

If you are asked to write the summary of your experiences do far in year 2020, what will you write? Hmm, I do not mean to put you on the spot, but you, my friend needs to relax and reflect. With just a few weeks for the year to end, I think it’s a good time to have deep reflections on our expectations and experiences so far.

My poetic summary of 2020

A year that charged me
to have authentic audacity.
A journey that challenged me
to maximise grace and creativity.
A season that charmed me
to see the advantage of adversity.
An adventure that changed me
to express a deep sense of humanity.

However, no matter how strange or stormy the journey of 2020 has been, it holds a lot of promise for those who know how to maximise the moment with focus and faith. I strongly believe that it’s a better time.

It’s a better time to smile,
let love and light tag along
It’s a better time to sing,
let the world hear your song.
It’s a better time to soar,
the top is where you belong.
It’s a better time to sail,
let the wind make you strong.

Don’t stand with someone
who doesn’t see
the possibility of your dreams.
Don’t sit with someone
who doesn’t see
the necessity of your dreams.
Don’t stay with someone
who doesn’t see
the validity of your dreams.
Don’t sleep with someone
who doesn’t see
the beauty of your dreams.

Moments and Memories

Do not cry over the past, it has gone;
Forge ahead, the deed has been done.

Worry not over the future, God holds it;
let not present pains make you quit.

Today’s skies are bright and beautiful,
maximise it to make your world wonderful.

Worthless is the rainfall of yesterdays,
you cannot use its sunshine to make hays.

The future is but a mansion of mysteries,
worth the wishes but not your worries.

Yesterday is a hall of hopes and history,
it is gone, only to be told as a story.

All you have is this moment, be happy,
smile away your sorrows, make it snappy!

Today will never come again my dear,
fill your heart with faith, shun fear.

Each moment in life turns to memories,
use this moment to leave great legacies.
