Loss and Lies

We sold our soils to buy their skies.
We sold our tongue to buy their lies.
We see our own truth lurking in their eyes,
who is foolish and who is wise?

We sell our sons to buy their stars.
We sell our sun to buy their scars.
The skies beneath our feet are warm…
and the soil above us rages with storm.

We run after the enemies behind us
only to find our friends right in front of us.
we fight to flourish but we were never planted…
a generation that after birth was slowly aborted.

I hear the silence of the seed of the womb…
and the wailings of the whirlwind in the tomb.
Echoes of errors reverberate with lessons
for the weak and strong to learn in due seasons.

We were never lost but said to be found…
someone picked us up from a gloomy ground…
We were stars, not to be found in miry clay,
How we got there is not a story for another day.

We sold our soil to buy their skies.
We sold our tongue to buy their lies.
We see our own truth lurking in their eyes,
Who is foolish and who is wise?
